the pictures above were taken while we were in the specialist clinic during morning session to observe minor oral surgery procedures. it was a very long hours for me
i had a patient this afternoon. we were classmates during matriculation programme. yesterday, he asked me whether i can take out his tooth today. i said, "yes, why not. but you have to be screened by the dental officer first."
so, he went to see the dental officer this morning. she said the tooth can be taken out because he complained of frequent cheek biting, uncomfortable chewing and food stuck. i called him to my chair and took the history. then, i presented the case to the lecturer. i had to take out the upper right wisdom tooth. we call it 18 (not eighteen, but one-eight) in dentistry.
i prepared him for the procedure. i gave local anaesthesia (LA) to him. it was my first time and did it very confidently. after a while, i called the supervisor to show me how to use the instrument. and then, i proceeded after the supervisor showed me the correct technique. i was thrilled to do it. i had to jab another LA because he felt pain. i continued to take out the tooth. finally, the tooth was removed in one single piece. no fracture, no gingival tissue attached to it. the tooth socket was clear. i received a compliment from the supervisor. i felt like jumping all over the clinic just now. hehe
i gave post operative instruction to the patient and discharged him. it really made my day.

his face showed that he's in pain. i told him to relax. it's just a pressure i exerted on his tooth to take it out. i gave him another jab and he's fine after that
